A few days ago we saw this in the Financial Times, on how Spotify had secured ‘high-profile backing’ from the charitable foundation set up by Li Ka-shing, the man behind Hutchison Whampoa the parent company of 3 UK. This latest financial boost will certainly strengthen the music service’s position as “a potential challenger to the dominance of iTunes.â€
Interesting stuff. Especially when news surfaced yesterday that there is rumoured to be a Spotify app arriving for 3UK. Electricpig got there first stating the “free music streaming service could be coming to 3 Mobile’s entire range of handsets.â€
Ewan at Mobile Industry Review (MIR) has seen some demonstrations of Spotify Mobile and believes it to be a ‘compelling’ proposition to the consumer, “Would you swap to 3 to get Spotify Mobile? Potentially, I’m sure.â€
Well, would you? Head to both Electricpig and MIR for the full details.
