INQ announces two new handsets

Written by sam, 4 August, 2009Handsets

The Really Mobile Project speculated, and they speculated right. They’re here, the INQ Mini and the INQ Chat.

Across the web it appears that most in the space have taken an interest in the duo of devices. Pocket-Lint and Mobile Industry Review have both given a rundown on the “affordable social mobiles”.

The Inquirer lets its readers know that the handset will be available on by 3, with the Mini arriving late September and the Chat landing shortly after. And although there is no mention of price as yet they’ve suggested that “the INQ Mini will be priced even lower than the prepaid INQ1, which came out at launch priced at £79.99, or free on a monthly contract of £15 with free Facebook, Skype, IM and Internet usage.”

Engadget goes with “INQ Mini and INQ Chat offer slimmer, sexier angle on ’social mobile’ segment”, stating that “while the style might seem aggressive for some, the build of both phones is pretty quality for the target market, and they’re certainly tighter in the design department than the INQ1.”

Finally I’ll leave you with a little transatlantic envy courtesy of VentureBeat who ask “Dear Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T: When do we get them?”

There is loads this, but it seems The Guardian broke it first.

As an owner of an INQ1 I have to say it’s a stunning phone but I will not be purchasing another INQ phone.

    Why?

Well there have been many promised updates, all have failed to appear.

They are obviously developing software for the new INQ’s but have chosen not to support the older INQ1’s.

So why should I purchase a new INQ when I can pretty much see that they will never be upgraded either.

Nope, no thanks guys I will look out a better deal elsewhere and if that means ditching Three at the same time, well you brought it on yourselves!

    Sorry to hear that Steve,

Below I’ve included a couple of links on over-the-air updates that did go live for the INQ1…
