3 - Completely free calls and IM via Skype
This morning it was announced that 3 have done away with requirement to top-up each month to use Skype. From May 1st if you have a 3UK SIM and a 3-Skype enabled handset you can use the VoIP service completely free of cost.
The word has spread – UKGadgeteer covers the news mentioning that later in the year things are going to get better, “3UK will also open this offer up to 3UK SIMs and non-3-provided phones.”
Tonethephone is in minor disbelief, and filed his take on the news with his 3 dongle nonetheless. Over at Tamebay Chris Dawson talks through the details, and finishes with high praise for 3, “3 are and have always been at the cutting edge of mobile services […]”
Gerrymoth was at the press conference this morning where Kevin Russell revealed the Skype for free news. He’s also got a link to the 3 press release.

Cheers Sam, been reading on the links some of the benefits Skype brings to 3 - very interesting how Skype users are more profitable! Does make the other mobile operators look a little silly for not embracing new technologies
