Messing about on boats with 3 mobile broadband
May 16th, 2008
Over at Sonflower’s Log, Eeyore (though we presume it’s not THE Eeyore, alas) has announced the introduction of mobile broadband to the titular ship, a narrowboat where Eeyore and family live. Eeyore describes them as an “‘ordinary’ family…As near as we can get to 2.4 children.”
Checking the 3G network map, Eeyore has found “that the coverage has improved no end since my last sortie into the north Midlands and the Shropshire Union”, though there is none in Froghall quite yet. The main worry Eeyore has is “getting a signal inside the steel tube that is a narrowboat” as the non-waterproof dongle may not appreciate being stuck outside a window, dangling over the river! Small, clear, plastic bags are always handy in these situations Eeyore, or you could try to experiment with Ant’s ‘Blu-Hack’.
