Neville agrees with 3 that merely stating the potential download speed is “confusing and, I’d say possibly in some cases, misleading” as “describing a service with terms like “up to 3.6 mbps” is pretty meaningless to most people.”

Neville appreciated the way Graham Baxter (3’s Chief Technologist) described people wanting to know what kind of online experience they will receive from mobile broadband, such as page loading times, rather than meaningless figures. He concluded the point by writing “I think simplifying explanations about connection speed, etc, is great, and I hope 3 do communicate their offering in this context far more simply in future”.
