3mobilebuzz trialist Neville Hobson was one of the lucky few to attend 3’s mobile broadband summit and has written up his thoughts in a nicely detailed blog post over at his website. Neville agrees with 3 that merely stating the potential download speed is “confusing and, I’d say possibly in some cases, misleading” as “describing a service with terms like “up to 3.6 mbps” is pretty meaningless to most people.”

Neville appreciated the way Graham Baxter (3’s Chief Technologist) described people wanting to know what kind of online experience they will receive from mobile broadband, such as page loading times, rather than meaningless figures. He concluded the point by writing “I think simplifying explanations about connection speed, etc, is great, and I hope 3 do communicate their offering in this context far more simply in future”.

Neville also made it clear how he values pricing transparency, such as “knowing the actual cost of a mobile internet session before you go online, with the detail personalized to you”, something he’d previously talked about in April. Head over to Neville’s site for the full picture.
