SkypeIN, SkypeOUT shake it all about

Written by sam, 23 November, 20073 Skypephone

The UK Gadget Blog has written on the blogger update session that recently took place at 3 UK headquarters.

Much like UK Mobile Report, the UK Gadget Blog guys have picked up on the words of Adam Davies, the Head of Marketing and Product Management UK Handsets. Specifically they focus on the mention of SkypeIN/OUT - something that they believe would make the 3 Skypephone an even more interesting proposition than it already is. They state that once these features are available “3 could be selling even more of these devices”, and they conclude by highlighting that the iSkoot Skype product utilised by the 3 Skypephone, already has the workings in place to make this happen.

An interesting proposition indeed

    “once these features are available”

Am I the only person who thinks that this is never going to happen, and that thinking that Three are suddenly going to switch it on at some point in the future is both naive and stupid?

    Hi Adam,

3 are planning to include SkypeIn and SkypeOut in future releases, though it is too early for anymore information at the present time. Keep an eye on 3mobilebuzz and as soon as there is more information we’ll let you know.

There is further thoughts on the blogger update session at The UK Mobile Report if you want to read more on the subject.

    Thanks,

    Matt

The current skype for 3 application is capable of handling Skype OUT calls, as I used to be able to see all my skype numbers when I used to log in/out a few times about 7pm every night and was able to make landline and mobile calls (I’d check later on my PC and I was billed for the calls, free as I had skypePRO for landlines and the equiv rate for any mobile numbers).

They must have been testing it out as I’ve not been able to recreate recently.
