Reaction to the 3 Skypephone has been, in the main, positive over the last few days – but it seems that the tide may be turning for one particular blogger at least. An advocate of the appearance, features and concept of the device during the first two days of his trial, the third has seen “chinks in the armour starting to appear”.

And as the excitement of masses of free Skype calls has faded, it seems Alan is a little bit worried about the quality of the calls, comparing the experience to “the early days of analogue mobile calls, where the novelty and sense of occasion out weighed any practical limitations of the service”. What’s more, one of his trial devices has crashed “3 times ironically in a 24hr period”
