On a bright Monday morning 3mobilebuzz arrived at Milbank Tower in London, to greet our 10 invited bloggers on the 29th floor. Our attendees were: Neville from Neville Hobson.com, Marek from MEX, HandsOn from Talk3G, Stefan from The Small Business blog, Simon from Mobile Phone Development, Dale from Learn Something New, Matthew from Gadget Venue, Chris from Tamebay, Neil from Neil’s world and Intheknow from Digital Spy who couldn’t make the day event but came in the evening.

After gathering in a splendidly decorated meeting room, that with its white and blue scheme felt like a galactic milk bar, our bloggers got to know each other before being whisked away with everyone else to the conference for the presentation on the 3 Skypephone.

The presentation was kept informal; a move noted positively by Neville when we chatted to him later. Michael van Swaaij, CEO of Skype, said a few words about the revolutionary Skype mobile, followed by Kevin Russell of 3 CEO, who talked about the union between 3 and Skype and how they are delivering accessible and affordable mobile internet.

After the presentation had finished, everyone attending was given a pair of trial 3 Skypephones, a move gratefully acknowledged by all, the first genuine 3 Skypephone use began. In the area where this was going on were ‘blog points’, laptops set up with broadband where some bloggers, including HandsOn, took the opportunity to let the world know how the event was going and what they thought of it all. Subsequently we were able to arrange one-on-one interviews for any of our bloggers who’d requested one; Stefan met Tony Saigh, the business department manager from Skype, and also Justin Buck, the 3 handset user interface developer. Marek and Simon both met with John Yates, the 3 Tech manager and Adam Davis, the UK Handset manager. HandsOn also had a chat with Adam. Neville recorded a podcast for his blog with John Penberthy-Smith, Marketing Director at 3.

So we can expect to see these popping up imminently.

Intheknow made it for the evening shindig and was assisted by friendly 3 staff, who explained how the phone worked. He also enjoyed the glorious view of London from the 29th floor of the Milbank Tower!

After this the usual post launch event party commenced with the odd beverage or two, as all relaxed in a satisfaction after glow before rushing back to man 3mobilebuzz to catch all the developing conversation.
